Roa was staying with Ever in Buenos Aires recently and during that time they collaborated on this mural. As Ever explains, the mural is entitled “The people feed communism to the beast”. Ever says that the mural is a metaphor to be deciphered which he jokes that Roa explains as “the Chinese eat weird animals”.

This recent collaboration in Miami includes some of 2012’s breakthrough street artists sharing a wall: Ever, 2501, and Pixelpancho, plus a base (although I don’t have a good photo of this part of the wall unfortunately) by El Topo.

After seeing that Brooklyn Street Art is running a contest for the best street art photos of 2012, I thought to myself that maybe I should enter. Then I remembered that I’m not actually a great photographer. I’m competent and I still post photos to Flickr and Instagram, but there are a lot of people with a lot more talent than me. In collaboration with Fountain Art Fair and Samson Contompasis’ The Marketplace Gallery, the people of Living Walls have been given 175 ft. of wall space to divvy out amongst artists at Fountain. From December 6 to the 9th, 22 street artists including Rone, LNY, Trek Mathews, Jaz, Ever, Dal East, Faith47, Pixel Pancho, Never 2501, Joe Iurato and more will be painting Fountain’s outdoor courtyard.
The rise in success of Living Walls over the last 3 years has been fascinating to watch. This is their second year at Miami Basel but their first year there curating walls. Indoors they’ll have a booth, showing the works of a few international artists like La Pandilla, Interesni Kazki, and some of the artists listed above, as well as a few Atlanta favorites. Definitely looking forward to seeing their contribution.

I discovered Ever’s extraordinary aesthetic when I visited Baltimore earlier this year. I was mesmerized — from blocks away — by his distinct fusion of the photorealistic and the abstract. I was delighted to see him at work on my recent visit to Puerto Rico, but I didn’t get to see the completed mural — until now, courtesy of the artist.

As the walls continue to speak in the Santurce district of San Juan, Puerto Rico, they have begun to attract increasing attention and admiration from passersby. We even noticed a group of students speaking with Mexican artist, Neuzz. Here are a few images of works in progress by: Sego, also from Mexico, Rimx & the Puerto Rican El Coro collective, Ever from Argentina, and Neuzz from the Carribean’s first international urban arts festival:

Earlier this week, I hosted a movie night at The Wren’s Nest in Atlanta for the Living Walls Conference. Living Walls asked me to put together a list of some short films to show, and I ended up with 27. A few people have asked me to post those films online to share with friends or just to see a film that they missed while they were getting some food, so after the jump you’ll find embedded versions of all 27 films that were screened at the movie night (many of which have appeared on Vandalog before). The work of Baltimore-based artist Nanook has been appearing around the world a bit lately. Here’s work of his in Italy, Germany and Canada. His mural in Foligno, Italy with Ever is part of Attack Festival, which looks like they will have more artists coming to Foligno through September including Ericailcane, Sten&Lex and Moneyless.

Last week, this video was posted of our friend Ever‘s recent trip to Mexico. Ever is one of the best young muralists in South America right now and this video provides some rare insight into his work, so it’s well worth watching.
