Floating stickers by Dan Witz

Dan Witz‘ new Japes Crew project is pretty fun. Basically, each artwork is made up of stickers and dirt. In the above photo, the red balls are printed stickers. The shadows are made of smudged dirt. These were all done in Poland, where Dan worked with at-risk youth and taught them how to get their stickers floating. Keep an eye out for a video on how to do this yourself soon…

Simek1 and Greg Papagrigoriou in Greece

Simek1 and Greg Papagrigoriou

It’s definitely not something I’m great at doing, but everyone once in a while I randomly stumble across some artist’s flickr that I immediately like. Most recently, that’s been Simek1‘s flickr. He’s painting some really cool walls in Greece, often with Greg Papagrigoriou.

Making Mother’s Day easy

Seeing as it is almost Mother’s Day in America, Jeff Waldman at ohSanFran and Dave Harmatz decided to help out the lazier among us (aka, people like me) who might forget that it’s Mother’s Day or just not make the effort to write a letter. They put out a series of pre-stamped envelopes with letters inside near mail boxes in San Fransisco. All people had to do was write a quick letter to Mom and pop it in the bin. They made two holders, each with 15 envelopes, so, hopefully, 30 more moms will be getting Mother’s Day cards this year. Such a nice project. Check out more on this over at ohSanFran.

Tats Cru, Cekis and Fred, THC in the South Bronx

The Hunts Point section of the Bronx has some of the most intriguing and varied walls around.  Particular faves that I came upon this past week are by Tats Cru, Cekis and Fred, THC aka Nesto.

Weekend link-o-rama

Labrona and Troy Lovegates aka Other in Chile

Freshman year is almost over and soon I’ll be leaving Philadelphia for NYC and London (just for the summer though). And yet, I still have finals to study for, so I didn’t get time to write about these things…

Gaia in North Philly

It’s always great to come upon anything by Gaia anywhere. I came upon this huge paste-up yesterday outside the Girard Avenue L in North Philly.  As the neighborhood continues to change, street art is beginning to take up almost as much public space here as traditional graffiti does.
