Ok, so I am super late on this post, it’s almost July. I’ve been extremely busy this last month working on an introduction to a friend’s street art book and also some exciting projects here in Melbourne (as well as taking care of my good mates Melbourne Street art blog while he is away), all of which I hope to share with you soon.
Anyway, May was another exciting month in Melbourne, I love the energy Melbourne has when it comes to street art and graff. It just doesn’t stop.
To start the month Metro Gallery in Armadale, who regularly host live painting events, had another in early May. These live events are a great opportunity for collectors and fans alike to experience the creative process behind the pieces they love. This time they invited Adnate, Shida and DVATE.
Check out this cool video by Jonas Marnell below.
Damn It Magazine celebrated its first ever issue. A fantastic new biannual magazine produced by Jo Jette (Nothing to Nobody) and Fletcher Anderson (Invurt), featuring articles and interviews with talented illustrators, photographers, typographers, painters, writers, and other creative types as well as reporting on the more serious side of things from around the world. The magazine also donates 50c from each issue sold to a chosen charity, which is rad.
Keep an eye on this guy. Eleven is one of my favorite artists in Melbourne, a great video of him painting a wall at Melbourne club Revolver.
Backwoods Gallery did a cool studio visit with Two One in preparation for his upcoming show in July “Define Nothing”, another of my favourite Melbourne artists. More photos here.
David Russell, another of Melbourne’s dedicated paint spotters, has started a monthly round of up some of his favourite work, some of the goodness below.
An update from Meggs from his travels in the USA.
HAHA (aka Regan Tamanui – aka the godfather of Melbourne stencils) had a show at Dark Horse Experiment entitled “Metamorphosis”. An interesting application of stencils blending multiple subjects into one and also incorporating some of Melbourne’s usual suspects from the street art scene into the pieces.
Reka in London. This is a great video by itdrewitself and VNA gives a great insight into the artist and his roots, as well as his current fascination with painting found objects.
He also painted this epic piece later in the month:
AND managed to get to Denmark and paint this. A busy month:
Whilst the piece was a few months old, the video of it being painted was just released. A few months back Ghostpatrol painted a wind turbine in a country place called Gale. Love his work!

Putos is pumping out some amazing work lately, here’s a great collab he did with Knock. More great shots of this location here.
Shida and Two One painted this awesome wall together. Their styles mesh so well together.
AllThoseShapes always does a great job of documenting all the latest stuff on the streets. Here’s my faves from May.
DMOTE is back in town. I’d never met him here in Melbourne and I bumped into him at 5Pointz in New York late last year. Check out this video of him doing his thing in Prahran.
Another nice trackside piece with Break (on my train line which is awesome) here:
An awesome track walk in Clifton Hill by Chasing Ghosts on Just Another Agency‘s blog. This is my train line so I get to enjoy a lot of this daily 🙂
And to finish up, Some of Dean Sunshine’s top ten for May.
