    Tox’s sentence is bloody awful, I agree. Just wanted to say, however, that we need to be careful in saying that graffiti writers and street artists should be fined: many people can’t pay a fine of several thousands of pounds or dollars, and they then end in in prison for non-payment of fines. Fines sound like a good alternative to prison but they often end up being an indirect route there instead.

    True. That’s what happened to Revok. But in cases where it is possible for the writers to afford the fines, they might be an alternative to community service. Although they also might just be a way for wealthy people to avoid community service. I heard of one person who could afford the small fine he would be given for a street art related ticket he had received, so he specifically asked the judge for a fine rather than community service.
