This is (probably) my last post about the outdoor work at Basel Miami 2011. Here’s a somewhat random selection of pieces that went up this year by Entes, Jade, Col, Anthony Lister, Free Humanity, Pez, Chanoir, How and Nosm, Greg LaMarche, Romi, Aeon, Haze, Aaron De La Cruz, John Wendelbo, Mare139, Gaia and others. Some of the walls are from Graffuturism’s In Situ project, and you can find a full set of those walls on their site along with an introduction to that project written by Haze.

Big Up… Bue the Warrior!

This is Belgium’s Bue the Warrior. Recently he’s been collaborating with Billy and Low Bros in Berlin on some fantastic walls and shutters, pictures of which I posted last week. I rather like his style, (maybe because it’s similar to a few other artists I like), so here a few of his other pieces from all around the world. Enjoy.

From UK to HK and back again

So I’m back from Hong Kong nursing about 130 mosquito bites, but luckily a lack of sunburn – there are some upsides! In between the usual tourist based things I managed to wander the streets in and around Midlevels for an hour or two with the aim of spotting a few pieces of street art. Here are a few of the photos that interested me for one reason or another. Enjoy…

One thing I love about street art is the interaction between an artist and the environment, re-thinking spaces and re-appropriating objects, to produce art in its rawest form. In 2009 I spotted these two fire hydrants, unfortunately they had both been buffed with a new coat of paint when I re-visited them but they were my favourite pieces in Hong Kong and were too good to leave out of this post.

The Brick Lane Zoo

Normally I don’t post about shows at The Brick Lane Gallery, but this is an exception. Zoo has work from Bortusk Leer, Pez, Snub23, Roa and El Bocho.

The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present “The Brick Lane Zoo” where exotic and wild animals fresh from the city streets cross the globe to showcase at The Brick Lane Zoo.

15 international Street and Urban Artists from the UK, France, Spain, USA, Argentina, Belgium and Germany come together under one roof armed with spraycans, paste ups and stencils to unleash their wild beasts into our urban jungle. Feral animals will roam the gallery walls and stray between the visitors. The upper canopy will be adorned with a striking array of animals ranging from skeletal rhinos and grizzly bears to happy fish.

Combining the exceptional talents of our street artists the walls of the gallery will come to life.
