Weekend link-o-rama

Sorry for all the downtime on Vandalog this week. I dunno what’s up with Vandalog’s web host. If you have suggestions of a good web host that I could move to (even though I just switched to Gandi), let me know. Anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading:

Wow. Cannon Dill and Brett Flanigan painted some great walls together as they traveled across the USA earlier this year.
I always love checking in on what Mathieu Tremblin is up to.
BSA have been keeping tabs on Judith Supine’s recent wheatpastes in NYC.
Know Hope participated in issue 11 of Dispose, an publication where interesting people are given a disposable camera to take 27 photos in 24 hours.
Decertor really did a nice job with this mural in Morocco.
Liu Bolin got himself painted into a piece by Meres and Zeso at 5 Points, the graffiti mecca in NYC that unfortunately may soon be no more.
Did you catch Austin McManus‘ Partner in Crime photo series in Juxtapoz earlier this year? Now you can get the series in zine form.
LNY’s solo show at Solo(s) Project house in Newark just ended. But here are some photos.
Shift//Delete recently projected a video onto the famous Gherkin building in London and turned the building into a giant, masterbating, penis.
Planning to protest the G8? Peter Kennard has some great posters for you to download and use.
Blade is in the Netherlands for a series of graffiti jams and a show in Amsterdam.

Weekend link-o-rama

While I should probably be studying for final exams right now, I’m spending just as much time getting ready for Up Close and Personal, which opens next week in NYC. Check out a preview on Brooklyn Street Art. Here’s some stuff I would have liked to have covered this week:

Saber has a solo show open now in New York.
If you haven’t seen NohJColey’s flickrstream in a while, he’s been making some interactive sculptures.
Faile have a new prayer wheel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This article does a good job of showing just how messed up the current legal system is when looking at graffiti.
A reminder that street art and graffiti can have a real impact.

Peter Kennard is showing at Black Rat Projects.
New questions about if Banksy’s This Looks a Bit Like an Elephant piece left a man homeless.
Banksy is selling a poster on Saturday at the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair, and all the proceeds are going to charity. Just £5 per poster. The design is a “Tesco Petrol Bomb,” referencing the recent riots in Bristol over the construction of a new Tesco supermarket.
Herakut get up in LA.
Melrose&Fairfax have an article about Jeffrey Deitch’s continued ties to The Hole, the gallery that his right-hand woman Kathy Grayson set up after Deitch Project closed and Deitch became the director of MOCA in LA. Most of what they mention was already well-known or expected and a lot less explosive than Melrose&Fairfax make it out to be, but I’d still be curious to hear what The Association of Art Museum Directors think about this.

Small Acts of Resistance – Swoon, Armsrock and more at BRP

Small Acts of Resistance, the latest show at Black Rat Projects, opened on Thursday evening. It’s another one of my dream group shows from Black Rat, with a number of my favorite artists represented. Peter Kennard in particular seems to have really outdone himself with his installation, although I’m hoping to see some more high-res images of that work. Small Acts of Resistance at Black Rat Projects

The next show at Black Rat Projects is a group show with some of my favorite artists. Small Acts of Resistance opens on November 4th and includes Know Hope, Armsrock, Matt Small, Dotmasters, Swoon and Peter Kennard. It’s awesome to see Armsrock back at Black Rat Press and Know Hope showing there for the first time. Admittedly, Dotmasters may seem a bit out of place at first, but he did recently paint that wall at Nuart that everyone loved. As for how Swoon will be involved in this show, she will be doing a large installation, presumably similar to her show on now in Paris.
