Miami Madness, part one

Well, the street artists went to Miami, did their thing, and now most everyone is on their way back home. I’m guessing we’ll have a few more posts on Vandalog devoted to the murals left behind in Miami this year, but my friend Olive47 has sent over a few photos to get us started. There’s work by Chanoir, El Xupet Negre, Celso Gonzalez, Olive47, Free Humanity, La Pandilla, Logan Hicks, and one unknown artist (if you know, please leave a comment) 2Square.

Oslo’s ARD*POP-UP Festival

Zosen (with Chanoir in the background)

The ARD*POP-UP Festival took place in Oslo this November and was the first iteration of this festival, although the organizers hope to move it from city to city in the coming years. This year, the festival brought Pez, Kenor, Phlegm, and others to the streets of Oslo for some really fun murals, although it does look like they were concentrated in a pretty small area. And one last thing about Miami

Jade. Photo by Jade

This is (probably) my last post about the outdoor work at Basel Miami 2011. Here’s a somewhat random selection of pieces that went up this year by Entes, Jade, Col, Anthony Lister, Free Humanity, Pez, Chanoir, How and Nosm, Greg LaMarche, Romi, Aeon, Haze, Aaron De La CruzJohn Wendelbo, Mare139, Gaia and others. Some of the walls are from Graffuturism’s In Situ project, and you can find a full set of those walls on their site along with an introduction to that project written by Haze.

Video from The Brick Lane Zoo

The first (along with the time lapse video of Roa painting) in a series of videos I’ve started to make for is this tour of The Brick Lane Zoo, a show that just closed at The Brick Lane Gallery. Every week there will be two new videos going online: one will be a sort of different video like a time lapse or an extended interview, and the other will be me checking out the latest street art gallery openings.

In this video, make sure to listen to what Pure Evil says toward the end about street art and graffiti. And hey, there’s an interview with Roa so that’s awesome.
