I continue to be floored by São Paulo’s range and volume of stylish bombs and throw-ups. The most prolific bombers seem to be Os Gemeos, Finok and Vlok.

Outside the Planter Boxes is a series of artworks in Toronto organized by Sean Martindale. Sean saw that the planter boxes around Toronto that were meant for planting trees were in poor shape. Many were falling apart or only had stumps in them. So he got a group of artists together to spruce up some of the boxes. Here are a few of my favorites, but you can check out the rest on the project website.

Is it time for another link-o-rama already? The week has flown by. Except for when I had to read the multiple formal press releases I received this week which promoted artists’ gallery shows by talking about a recent campaign of wheatpasting that they were doing solely for the purpose of promoting their shows. Bleh. By contrast, Stinkfish has been in London for a bit and just seems to be getting up with posters, spraypaint and other materials because it’s fun. Here’s some of the things I’m not going to be kinda bitter about this week…

Roa, Pin, Pixelpancho and Blu are some of the first arrivals painting at the Draw The Line festival in Campobasso, Italy. All in all, over 100 artists will participate in the festival, which officially launches in September. In the mean time, artists are coming by to paint. There was some initial controversy about Blu’s piece, but that has since settled down.

Thanks to Winnipeg Street Art, I’ve just found out about Flak, a street artist doing some beautiful wheatpastes in Winnipeg. Sort of like Armsrock’s wheatpastes.

While in São Paulo and now while reviewing my photos, I’m struck by the incredible array of faces that surface on the walls of this amazing city. They range from the dream-like poetic to the weirdly surreal. Here’s a sampling:

There are a couple new collaborations involving Sweet Toof to share today. Two with American writer Smells and one with Paul Insect. I’ve got to say, Smells has to be one the best writing names there is. Also Screw. That’s a good one as well. Because they work so well in tandem with other writers. Anyway, here’s the work:
And while I’m on the topic of an artist that some people think I blog about a bit too much, I might as well mention that occasional Sweet Toof collaborator Malarky has been very busy lately.

Ranging from the playful to the mournful, the cast of characters gracing the walls of São Paulo always intrigues. Here’s a sampling:
The Estonian duo Mutlistab‘s most recent project is to put colored cups in fences. Certainly not a new technique for making street art, but I’ve not seen anyone use this method to make such complex pieces. Usually it’s something like this. So good on Mutlistab for taking this simple idea to another level.
