You may know Brazilian artist Alex Hornest better as Onesto, the name he first used when painting on the streets with Os Gemeos and Vitche over a decade ago. Alex tends to use his real name in gallery shows these days, where he displays his amazing sculpture, canvas, and mixed media work. His next solo show opens in Sao Paulo on July 4th at Galeria Thomas Cohn. Judging by the flyer and what he’s done in the past, this is a show worth paying attention to.
While it’s tough to understand if you don’t speak Portuguese, the clip video below is definitely worth a watch to learn more about Alex. The interview is interspersed with clips of him painting a street piece as well as examples of other work around Sao Paulo.
Alex is also featured in this month’s issue of Juxtapoz.
