Elfo’s door

Here’s one of Elfo‘s latest pieces. When I mentioned to Elfo that this piece reminded me of The Door to Nowhere, it was pointed out to me that the intent of the two pieces were almost completely opposite. The Door to Nowhere led to, well, nowhere. But where does Elfo’s door lead?

    Elfo’s door, I guess it leads to the field right behind it? In fact you don’t even need this door there, because there is no frame structure around the door, how do you swing the door open? If you are going to do a trompe l’oeil type of composition you might as well do it properly so it works technically. I think this sort of stuff is déjà vu, thus predictable, a bit like all the contextual faces you see out there, pleaaaaaase, it reminds me of a foundation course end of year show. Ok next.
